INDORE: "My favourite video game is GTA. The thief is the hero. Its about how many cars I can steal in the game and beat my friends and cousins. I also like it when cars crash against each other and then police comes after me, although I always manage to escape," says ten-year-old Aditya.
Aditya is not the only child in this league who grow so fond of their video games that they start to admire all wrong things, that comprise the major content of most video games.

Blood, gore, violence, sexual content, partial nudity, drug reference are the kind of terms which would define most video games accurately, which is what your children spend hours with every day. Unmonitored video gaming can be misleading and also may have adverse effects on your child's behaviour.
Most games that you end up buying for your ward, which he/she thinks is popular and fun is certified with M (Mature Content) rating by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). Owner Playstation House, Neeraj Singhal said "Grand Theft Auto aka GTA, Assassin's Creed and God of War are some of the most popular games among the children, and are rated M (Mature) by the ESRB." When M rating makes the content appropriate only for those above 17 years of age, there are many teens and pre-teens gaining expertise in these games, when with every level they cross, the gruesome content increases.
When children relish in the thrill that these games offer them, without ever realising how is it going to affect their psyche or even future for that matter, many parents also are equally ignorant. Says homemaker Yogita Chouksey, "I never realised that these games also come with ratings, I just buy whatever my son asks me to. Video games are the best convenient way to keep kids indoors in summer. Also, they stay occupied for long hours, which buys me some time for myself."
Psychologists in the city also seem to be concerned over how excessive exposure to games of this nature can lead to various psychological and behavioural disorders. Counselling psychologist, Abhay Paliwal said "Unsupervised video gaming can make children behave abnormally, as they learn from imitation."
